Bike Routes on Google Maps? Say What?

Posted by Paul Taylor on August 14, 2008

There is a worldwide movement afoot to have bike routes on Google Maps. Sound far-fartched? Well, I think yes. But, if you want to promote that far-fetched movement, here’s where to join the bandwagon.

I signed their petition, but I say the future is now!

Check out the Michiana Bike Map at michianabikemap.googlepages.com!

Nate Barnett and I have put in quite a few hours on it, but it’s mostly limited by our own riding experiences. Luckily, the map is set up to allow as many collaborators as are willing to work on it. It’s really easy to learn and of course I’m willing to help teach folks who are interested.

Bottom line: If there are specific streets you’d like to see, post a message in the Google Group. And if you’d like to help add to the Michiana Bike Map, send us an email at bikemichiana (at) gmail.com!
