Glad to have more bikers joining our fair community. It is true that bike access from the north and west of ND is pretty sad. It is better from the south, west and even the north-west. Have you checked out the City of South Bend Bike Map? There is a link to it from the Bicycle Resources (Local) in the right sidebar.

We are moving to South Bend next year and would like to be able to bike to work at Notre Dame. When we visited, the city didn't appear to be especially friendly to bikers and pedestrians, especially in the north where we will be living. We hope to join the effort to get more cars off the roads and encourage biking, walking, and public transportation. It is encouraging to us to see this effort by Bike Michiana Coalition.
