There were two articles about bicycle advocacy in today’s Tribune. One, by Joe Ditts and with comments from Paul Taylor, highlights the proposed legislative changes that are currently being discussed on Bike Michiana. It also covers the push to establish South Bend as a Bicycle Friendly Community and has comments from Danny Graber and Tom Price (assistant to Mayor Steve Luecke).
A separate article, attributed to “Tribune Staff Writer”, focuses on bike routes throughout the county. It features comments from Bill and Judy Lee and stresses the need for routes to get from town to town.

New Downtown Housing Is Good for Michiana Cycling

Although not specifically about bicycles, an article by Gene Stowe in Sunday’s Tribune is about the popularity of new near-downtown housing. Those interviewed for the article stress their desire to be centrally located, close to parks and able to walk to local attractions (the river, downtown, the farmer’s market, etc). I think this bodes well for our cycling advocacy efforts.
