Chicago L.A.T.E. Ride: July 11/12

Posted by Jim Moffitt on June 10, 2009

Join 9,000 bicyclists for Chicago’s ONLY after-midnight ride. I hate to sound like an advertisement but I want to spread the word that this is the most enjoyable group ride I’ve found. The immense amount of bicyclists takes on its own Aura; their collective momentum along Chicago’s skyscraper lined streets seems to pull you along practically un-assisted. The home stretch along the lakefront trail at sunrise is absolutely spectacular. Come join us, nurture your bicycling soul…. www.lateride.org

“Recently Unemployed”: The Hottest new Bike Week Team!

Posted by Jeff Nixa on May 21, 2009

Are you a Bike to Work fan with no job to bike to?   Feeling the crunch of the economy in spite of your commuter savings?   This could be your opportunity to shine on the newly formed Bike to Work team called “Recently Unemployed”.   Join last year’s mileage leader Rob Shellhamer and others as we pedal our way to our next career.

If you have been downsized, rightsized, outsourced or just plain laid-off, you know your new job is to find a new job and it is more work than any work you have done in the past. So why not combine your fitness/green/savings routine with your new job search?

Join the team and log your miles to outplacement centers, interviews, networking events as well as the evening rides scheduled for Bike to Work Week. With a little more time on our hands, we should be able to coast right past all those regular nine-to-fivers out there! Bike miles to volunteer for Bike to Work events will count as well!

To join simply go to www.MichianaBiketoWork.org and click on “Corporate Challenge”. From there click on “Click here to register your commuting team or register with a team”, then “Join a team” and find the hottest team in the area: “Recently Unemployed”. You will register with a login and password and be all set to ride. Now get out there and ride to your new career!

Ride from ND to Goshen Ride of Silence

Posted by Adam Bee on May 20, 2009

Since there is a Ride of Silence in Goshen but not South Bend tonight, I plan to ride from ND to Lincoln Avenue Cycle.  The route is 30 miles, so I plan to leave at 4:45 sharp to make it there by 6:45.  If you’d like to ride along, show up at the Main Circle of Notre Dame before 4:45.  Make sure your bike has lights; I plan to return by 9:15 or 9:30, so we might be racing the sunset a bit on the way back.

Here is the route I plan to take (LINK).  I’ve never ridden most of those easterly roads, so I can’t guarantee their safety or comfort.  Let me know if you have suggestions on a better route!
